The City Hall is considered one of the best wedding photo places in Copenhagen. I have put this spot at the top of this list because I believe that this amazing location can provide you with some really amazing and valuable memories of your special day. The architecture of the building is designed in the National Romantic Style, and the inside of it is ornamented with majestic illustrations. In addition, there is an astounding balcony and fascinating glided stairs where you can take splendid photographs with your other half and commemorate the beginning of your life together.

The inner part of Copenhagen City Hall includes a wonderful backyard with a fountain, tables, and benches, which is the perfect setting to celebrate your marriage with a bottle of champagne and wedding cake. This is where I held my ceremony, and I was quite happy with my choice! It is an amazing spot for getting married in the spring or summer and is the best choice for international couples. Moreover, it is free of charge, so you do not need to pay any kind of fee.

Another amazing choice among places to take your wedding photos in Copenhagen is the Court House. Firstly, it has a great central location and is just 500 metres from City Hall. This means that if you want to take astonishing photographs in several areas, it would be convenient to plan ahead and have this in mind.

Nytorv is famous for its fascinating Neoclassical architecture and Roman-style pillars that are perfect for photographs. You can add a dash of history to your images by striking poses in front of this amazing building! This location will be an excellent spot if you’re planning to elope and get married in Copenhagen. Just imagine you and your partner in impressive attire in front of majestic pillars that remind you of the old times.

Magstræde is one of the oldest streets in Copenhagen, offering a magical setting for wedding photos. It is moments away from the Court House, so you can consider it if you intend to photograph several locations. While the street is away from the noisy traffic, you should expect a lot of people, especially newlyweds, to take their mementos here.

It is not surprising that this street is considered one of the most wanted places to take photos in Copenhagen. Everyone wants to strike a pose in front of the plethora of houses in different colors!

The Palace is known for the Royal Life Guard, which changes every day at noon, and the guards walk the streets of the city, usually accompanied by music.

The guard change can be a unique backdrop for your photoshoot, so if you want to go for a more creative approach, make sure to arrive on time.

11

The Marble Church

Frederiksgade 4,
1265 Copenhagen

55.684842, 12.590098
  • A classical and timeless backdrop for your wedding photos
  • Steps and columns drama
  • A short walk from Amalienborg Castle
copenhagen-wedding-photographer-marble-church
the largest dome in Scandinavia

A few meters down from the Amalienborg Palace is the city’s most striking church, The Marble Church. Also known as Frederik’s Church, this building has stood the test of time and prevailed gracefully! It was originally planned in the 1770s, but the project was incomplete all through the late 1800s because the original architect had died. It was finally opened in 1945 and stands as one of Copenhagen’s finest landmarks. Now, it is an extremely popular church to get married in Copenhagen, so chiming bells on Fridays and Sundays are not a rare occurrence.

Fun fact: The Marble Church isn’t actually made of marble! Due to budgeting issues, limestone blocks were used as alternatives. However, no one will notice the difference in the stunning photos you’ll take.

12

Kastellet

Gl. Hovedvagt, Kastellet 1,
2100 Copenhagen

55.689019, 12.597371
  • The iconic windmill adding a touch of whimsy and charm
  • Historical fortress and moats
  • Close to the Little-Mermaid
one of the best preserved fortresses in Northern Europe

Kastellet is one of Copenhagen’s quietest spots, located 10 minutes from the Marble Church! The area is very well preserved with perfectly manicured lawns and features a fountain, a citadel, and a rustic windmill. A few minutes away from Kastellet is a widely popular attraction: the Little Mermaid statue, inspired by the author Hans Christian Andersen. However, this particular spot is typically crowded with tourists, so you won’t get enough privacy. Most people want to take a photo in front of the statue, so you’ll be required to queue; if you’re on a strict time schedule, it would be best to leave it for another time.

Your wedding pictures can look fantastic at Kastellet, especially if you visit in April, since you can see the Japanese cherry blossoms in full bloom! You can also visit Langeline Park to witness the trees in their best display.

13

The King’s Garden

Øster Voldgade 4A,
1307 Copenhagen

55.682842, 12.580736
  • A royal atmosphere with lawns and vibrant flower beds
  • Can cater for large ceremonies
  • Rose Garden Elegance
the oldest and most visited park in central Copenhagen

The Rosenborg, or King’s Garden, is one of the oldest royal gardens in Denmark. It was laid out right next to Rosenborg Castle in the 1600s and has become one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful green spaces. There’s so much greenery—bushes, rosegardens, flowerbeds, you name it! Both the garden and castle, which are 20 minutes from the Marble Church, can be used as backdrops for your photos.

There are two cafes inside the heart of the park. It would be fun to celebrate there after your wedding ceremony is done!

14

The Botanical Garden

Gothersgade 128,
1223 Copenhagen

55.684720, 12.573432
  • Botanical diversity
  • Greenhouses and tropical allure
  • Bridges and water features
the largest collections of living plants in Denmark

Speaking of spectacular gardens, The Botanical Garden has the biggest collection of various plants, spread over 10 hectares of land. Normally, there’s a lot of greenery going around, but there is a serene lake as well—an ideal backdrop for your photos. Entry to the Botanical Garden is free of charge, however, tickets for the Butterfly and Tropical House have to be bought for a small fee.

The location of the garden is perfect; it is centrally situated, only 5 minutes away from the King’s Garden. If you want to take photos at multiple locations, this should definitely be added to your list!

15

Frederiksberg Gardens

Frederiksberg Have,
2000 Frederiksberg

55.674853, 12.531585
  • Frederiksberg palace backdrop
  • Charming bridges, a lake and wooded paths within the park
  • Close proximity to Frederiksberg City Hall
a romantic landscape garden designed in the English style

Finishing off our list of wedding photo places in Copenhagen is the marvellous Frederiksberg Park. While its location may be a bit far from the local attractions, it is perfect for engaged couples who want to elope in the city! For instance, if you’re getting married in Frederiksberg City Hall, the park is just 5 minutes away. Additionally, there are so many spots in the actual park where you can continue your celebration and be photographed at the same time! All in all, I ensure you will have an enchanting time surrounded by the wonders of nature.

It would be a crime not to mention the small canals and lakes where you can take a boat ride, as well as the many bridges and a Chinese temple where you could have spectacular images taken!
